That newish pedestrian bridge that connects Shadyside to the liquor-store parking lot at the EastSide development (a.k.a. The Way of Whole Foods) does provide a handy short-cut over the busway and railroad tracks. It’s not very long — a handful of yards — but it’s recently been updated with traffic lines to keep all manner of pedestrains and cyclists safely in order.
By my count, I see: a clear double-yellow center line forbidding traveling willy-nilly and weaving all over the place; two northbound and southbound lanes, each incorporating a legal passing lane; and two shoulders, just in case.
Let’s be careful out there, people.

Hi there ,i am the artist who worked on the bridge for 5 years. The lines were originally to be a more dense and layered ,but when i started to see the completed bridge i felt it should be a more simplified approach .the lines were meant to be a pattern and not to direct traffic ,the idea was to make you think about all those lines ,who paints them and create an alternative street ,which this bridge is. We are considering adding more.
