The Best of Pittsburgh edition that you are about to read is, in some ways, the first of its kind. Obviously, this isn’t our first readers’ poll, but there’s something about this issue that’s new. This is the first year that we held a nomination period. Between June 28 and July 19, 2017, 16,933 nominations were made by readers. Then, between July 28 and Aug. 18, 2017, more than 162,000 votes were cast in a ballot drawn from those nominations. We’ve always prided ourselves on making this issue about our readers’ choices, and this year, we had more input from our readers than ever before.

  1. i see alot is a protest or joke about president so i guess for half the people in country we don”t need to go to any of these ‘best of’……why the disrespect to voters..

  2. 1. “Alot” isn’t a word.

    2. Try some articles like “the” when you write.

    3. Quotation marks are not apostrophes, and vice versa.

    4. Ellipses are only three periods long, not six.

    5. Two periods do not equal a question mark.

    6. Who the hell cares?

  3. As a local food blogger, I find this list personally insulting and am extremely disappointed. I can only assume the average age of your population was over 50.

  4. Hey Dana, thanks for commenting. Just to clarify, President Trump received 39 percent of Allegheny County’s vote. And the latest poll out of F&M College shows that 17 percent of Allegheny County residents support Trump, as of September, with 59 percent of AC residents opposing him. Allegheny County amounts for almost all of our readers and this is their poll. Thanks for reading. Ryan Deto, Staff Writer, Pittsburgh City Paper
