Hundreds of people gathered outside of the United Steelworkers Building on International Workers’ Day to rally against the Trump administration and the wrongful deportation of immigrants in the United States . Mayor Ed Gainey held a press conference inside the USW building calling for the continuation of “unprecedented unity” throughout the city of Pittsburgh. Gainey said, “It’s okay to wake up and be scared but you only have two ways to go…you can turn it into fear or you can turn it into faith and my faith leads me to believe in the people and the power of the people.” Attendees took to the streets, marching down Stanwix St. chanting “United we stand” and “Immigrants are welcome here.”
