This afternoon, hundreds of people joined Rep. Summer Lee, local professors, USW and the Pitt Graduate Workers Union to stand up for the protection of higher education at Schenley Plaza. Attendees showed up with signs that read, “Hands off our students” and “Cure the doge disease” amongst other pertinent messages. Rep. Lee addressed the crowd and encouraged them to continue to fight for their right to higher education stating, “I am here to remind you that they [Trump administration] don’t know what they are up against. We know that the first thing he [Trump] went to attack was public education and union rights because he knows that an organized labor workforce is the greatest threat to an authoritarian so right now our solidarity is the strongest weapon that we have.”
