1Hood — the group founded by Jasiri X and Paradise Gray, devoted to hip-hop-related education and challenging media perceptions of African-American youth — released its first music video this weekend. The song, “Young Gifted, and Black,” is slated to be on 1Hood’s forthcoming mixtape; the song features Jasiri X along with young rappers Tyhir Frost, Haze the Kid and L.U.C. There’s a lot of talk about where the local hip-hop scene is at; if this is its future, it’s looking bright. Check out the video below and 1Hood on the web.
