Things that are missing from Michael Dowse’s comedy set in 1988: fresh plot ideas; laughs; the Eddie Money song that the title is taken from (though that omission is a plus). Over Labor Day weekend, all the kids from the Class of ’84 show up at one big party, in some swank house in Los Angeles. The two nerds (Topher Grace, Dan Fogler) finally hook up with the hot chick and the freaky goth chick, respectively, while the brainy party girl (Anna Faris) realizes her lunkhead preppie boyfriend (Chris Pratt) is a polo-shirted dud. This takes nearly two hours, but you’ll be bored with the big hair and INXS tunes well before that.
