Comedy Confluence,” a documentary about the various aspects of Pittsburgh’s burgeoning comedy scene, debuts tomorrow at 8 p.m. on WQED.

The 30-minute film, by Mike Rubino and Andy Kelemen, focuses on five individual practitioners of stand-up, sketch, improv, comedy as a teaching tool, and experimental comedy.

The performers profiled include stand-up comic Norlex Belma, a former Carnegie Mellon music major; Frankly Scarlett, an all-woman sketch troupe; improv specialist Dave Hart (who has a day job at the Carnegie Science Center); educator Tessa Karel, who runs the Penny Arcade program for kids; and the Knights of the Arcade, a monthly Dungeons & Dragons-themed improv show.

The slickly produced video also includes a brief history of the contemporary comedy scene and multiple testimonials to how much it’s grown in the past few years.

The show will be rebroadcast at 7:30 p.m. and midnight on Mon., Jan. 18. It will also be available for viewing here.
