Driving While Black Records had a good 2019. In addition to a slew of singles and features, the Pittsburgh-based record label dropped five albums from five different artists – just one short of rounding out its roster of six. But the year isn’t over yet. On Tue., Dec. 24, DWB is set to drop its first compilation album, Support Black Business, with a subsequent release party at Cattivo on Fri., Dec. 27.
“This album was fun to make, and that makes for a great listen. I think we have something unique and distinct to show the world,” says Jordan Montgomery, founder of DWB.
Ahead of the album drop, fans can preview Support Black Business with the lead single, “Flip,” featuring Montgomery, livefromthecity, and JM The Poet. Production for the track was handled by livefromthecity and showcases a booming bassline and the punny lyrical flow of the three rappers.
Support Black Business also features guest verses from Treble NLS and Tyhir Frost, along with production from livefromthecity, Pvksv, DJ Thermos, Chris Dreamer, and C. Scott.
This article appears in Dec 4-10, 2019.
